Photographic Elephant Safari

When the dry season dawns in the north central province, and the great Minneriya tank begins to recede, the drying tank bed nourishes fresh growth of grass while water still remains in the reservoir. This ideal recipe attracts hundreds of wild elephants from adjacent forests into Minneriya national park each summer. By July each year, the Gathering forms and peaks by late August, where over 300 elephants can be seen each evening grazing & frolicking besides the Minneriya waters.

With an option to extend you Elephant photo tour to the inlands, Udawalawe National Park will also be an ideal location for year-round gathering of elephants, for multiple photographic opportunities, with your very own specialist guide.
